RESEARCH PLAN
1- Theory research on narrative fiction film, History, Sociology, Didactics and their interrelations.
2- Define the profile of audience to be used in case studies.
3- Identify schools and History classes in basic education (9th year), secondary education (10th to 12th years) in Portugal and Spain, to apply the case studies (Focus Groups).
4- Identify the Universities and university courses in Portugal and Spain to apply the case Studies (Focus Groups).
5- Identify the target audience for case study outsider the classroom.
6- Select and analyse the films to be used in the research.
7- Build the following models:
a) Model of sociological experimentation on film reception outsider the classroom.
b) Model of educational implementation of narrative fiction films and an educational instrument in basic and secondary school History classes.
c) Model of educational implementation of narrative fiction films as an educational instrument in university education.
8- Prepare an educational script to be used by teachers/researchers.
9- Implement the chosen models in contexts /spaces/audiences, in Portugal and in Spain.
10- Researchers and consultants reflect on the results obtained and define the lines for systematizing the various case studies analyzed.
11- Prepare and discuss the summary overviews with the indicators obtained from the model application.
DISSEMINATION OF RESULTS
1- Identify scientific venues (congresses, colloquia, seminars, publications) to disseminate the results.
2- Organize two seminars every six months (1 in Portugal and 1 in Spain) to present and discuss intermediate results of the project to the scientific community.
3- Organize an annual international scientific meeting in Portugal or Spain, to disseminate the project to the scientific community, and share technical research methods and results of other similar experiences.
4- Publish articles and present of scientific papers in intermediate results achieved.
5- Prepare two final reports that include all project results (1in Portuguese and 1 in Spanish).
6- Create and maintain a website for the project, containing all the relevant information of the research (in particular, the activities and research results).
*Dissemination to the scientific community includes the presentation of four PhD theses by researchers involved in the project, the themes of which are related to the study object.
Important comments:
1- the participation of the research group ICONO14 (Spain) will extend this project to various places in Spain, since it includes, in its scientific community, university teachers and researchers who will establish bridges with areas and audiences defined for the application of these models. Both during the study process and in the dissemination phase, the editorial autonomy of this group (it has its own editor and journal) will provide wide access to the results, in particular in Spain and in Latin- American countries.
2- CITCEM is a research unit that includes teachers and researchers of the University of Porto and University of Minho. The Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, home to CITCEM, offers Master courses in Teaching History that ensure access to a wide network of schools where teacher training of future teachers take place. Existing protocols provide easy access to schools and groups of students needed for the case studies. The digital library of FLUP ensures the dissemination of allproject results.
